Fruit Balloon


An inspired approach to kids party food with fresh fruit presented in a gorgeous balloon shape.

The ingredient of Fruit Balloon

  • 1 2 2 5kg small watermelon see notes
  • 1 2 1 25kg small honeydew melon peeled cut into 3cm pieces
  • 1 small pineapple peeled cut into 3cm pieces
  • 500g strawberries hulled
  • 1 tbsp ready made vanilla frosting see notes
  • 13 red grapes

The Instruction of fruit balloon

  • using a sharp knife and keeping the rind intact remove flesh from watermelon cut a 7cm wedge for the balloon tie cut the remaining flesh into 3cm to 4cm pieces
  • place the watermelon shell cut side down on a large platter push 1 toothpick into the base of each piece of watermelon honeydew pineapple and each strawberry using picture as a guide and starting with the strawberries insert toothpicks about 3cm apart into watermelon rind to secure so the whole surface of the watermelon shell is covered
  • place watermelon wedge at the base of the balloon to form the balloon tie
  • spoon frosting into a small snap lock bag snip off 1 corner and pipe a thin line of frosting onto the platter to form the string gently press grapes end to end into the frosting to secure serve
