The Perfect Meringues


Whether you pop them on a cake or enjoy them on their own, these marvelous meringues are your go to recipe for a simple sweet treat.

The ingredient of The Perfect Meringues

  • 4 coles australian free range egg whites
  • 1 cup 220g caster sugar
  • red gel food colouring see notes

The Instruction of the perfect meringues

  • preheat oven to 100c line 2 baking trays with baking paper
  • place egg whites in the clean dry bowl of an electric mixer whisk until soft peaks form gradually add sugar 1 tbs at a time whisking well after each addition continue whisking for 2 mins or until the mixture is thick and glossy and the sugar is completely dissolved
  • transfer meringue mixture to a piping bag fitted with a 1 5cm plain or fluted nozzle pipe meringues onto lined trays
  • bake swapping trays halfway through cooking for 1 hour or until meringues are dry to touch and crisp turn the oven off leave meringues in oven with door ajar for 1 hour to cool completely this stops the meringues cracking store in an airtight container at room temperature
