Pulao


With cinnamon, cardamom and red onion, this Indian rice side is colourful, aromatic and super tasty.

The ingredient of Pulao

  • 60ml 1 4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 red onion halved thinly sliced
  • 12 fresh curry leaves
  • 500g 2 1 2 cups basmati rice
  • 4 cardamom pods crushed
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 dried bay leaves
  • 8 black peppercorns
  • 750ml 3 cups water
  • 2 massel vegetable stock cubes

The Instruction of pulao

  • heat oil in a saucepan over medium high heat cook onion stirring occasionally for 5 minutes or until soft add curry leaves and cook stirring for 2 minutes or until the onion is golden transfer to a bowl
  • add rice cardamom cinnamon bay leaves peppercorns water and stock cubes to pan bring to boil reduce heat to low simmer for 10 minutes or until liquid absorbs cover set aside for 10 minutes or until tender transfer to a serving dish top with the onion mixture
