Sausage Rolls


A kids classic you can make at home - a much healthier recipe to the store-bought, fast food option.

The ingredient of Sausage Rolls

  • 250g beef or pork sausage mince
  • 250g lean beef or pork mince
  • 1 brown onion coarsely grated
  • 1 carrot peeled coarsely grated
  • 1 zucchini ends trimmed coarsely grated
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs made from day old bread
  • 2 sheets 25cm x 25cm ready rolled puff pastry halved
  • 1 egg lightly whisked
  • tomato sauce to serve

The Instruction of sausage rolls

  • preheat oven to 200c line an oven tray with baking paper
  • place the minces onion carrot zucchini and breadcrumbs in a bowl and mix until well combined season with salt and pepper
  • place pastry on a clean work surface
  • divide mixture into quarters shape a portion into a log down the edge of a pastry sheet
  • roll to enclose filling use a small knife to cut the roll in half and score the top of each roll place on the lined tray repeat with remaining mince and pastry brush each roll with a little egg
  • bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through serve immediately with tomato sauce if desired
