Chocolate Dipped Traditional Scottish Shortbread


This easy, classic shortbread recipe is dipped in decadent dark chocolate. But dont let the simplicity fool you these biscuits are rich and buttery with the perfect crumbly texture.

The ingredient of Chocolate Dipped Traditional Scottish Shortbread

  • 250g butter coarsely chopped at room temperature
  • 100g 1 2 cup caster sugar plus extra to serve
  • 300g 2 cups plain flour
  • 150g dark chocolate coarsely chopped
  • 2 tsp queen organic vanilla extract

The Instruction of chocolate dipped traditional scottish shortbread

  • preheat the oven to 200c 180c fan forced line a large baking tray with baking paper
  • use a stand mixer with the paddle attachment to beat the butter sugar and queen organic vanilla extract for 5 6 minutes or until pale and creamy sift in the flour and beat until just combined
  • turn mixture onto a lightly floured surface knead until just smooth do not over knead roll the dough into a ball gently flatten to 1 5cm thickness
  • pinch the edge of the dough to create a frill pattern use a sharp knife to score 8 triangles into the dough
  • bake for 15 20 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges set aside in the pan to cool completely before slice into triangles
  • line a baking tray with baking paper place chocolate in a small microwave safe bowl microwave on medium stirring every 30 seconds for 1 2 minutes or until melted and smooth dip the shortbread into the melted chocolate place on the tray sprinkle with the extra sugar set aside to to set before serving
