Hot Buttered Rum

The ingredient of Hot Buttered Rum

  • 6 x 7cm cinnamon sticks see note
  • 250ml 1 cup dark rum
  • 1l 4 cups apple cider
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 12 whole cloves
  • 6 x 1cm wide strips orange rind white pith removed
  • 1 1 2 tbsp unsalted butter

The Instruction of hot buttered rum

  • divide the cinnamon sticks and rum among heatproof serving glasses or mugs
  • place the cider sugar cloves and orange rind in a large saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves bring to a simmer strain through a fine sieve into a large heatproof jug discard the cloves and orange rind
  • divide the cider mixture among the glasses top each with a teaspoon of butter to serve
