The ingredient of Hot Buttered Rum
- 6 x 7cm cinnamon sticks see note
- 250ml 1 cup dark rum
- 1l 4 cups apple cider
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 12 whole cloves
- 6 x 1cm wide strips orange rind white pith removed
- 1 1 2 tbsp unsalted butter
The Instruction of hot buttered rum
- divide the cinnamon sticks and rum among heatproof serving glasses or mugs
- place the cider sugar cloves and orange rind in a large saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves bring to a simmer strain through a fine sieve into a large heatproof jug discard the cloves and orange rind
- divide the cider mixture among the glasses top each with a teaspoon of butter to serve
